Virtual Field Trips for Families


These programs include an interactive lesson on one of the topics below, scavenger hunts, and follow up activities for after the lesson. These lessons are intended for homeschool families and afterschool students.

Learn about the following topics through a 4 week series of lessons. Drop in for a single lesson or join in for the entire month!

Time: Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 3:30pm, each series will repeat twice throughout the fall.

Lesson Topics:

  • Animal Adaptations (Tuesdays)

Learn about how animals survive in various habitats, protect themselves, and get their energy. Find out how these adaptations have inspired the creation of some of our everyday items and tools. Also, learn about some special traits that different animals have, but don't use anymore.

1st Round:                                                                    

October 20th - November 10th                  

2nd Round:

November 17th - December 15th

(Skips November 24th for Thanksgiving Break)

  • Urban Ecology  (Wednesdays)

Learn about the living and non-living things that make up our local ecosystems and how they all interact with each other. Find out about the rocks and minerals around us that we use every day and how we can tell how healthy our local streams are.

1st Round:                                                                    

October 21st - November 11th                                                             

2nd Round:

November 18th - December 16th

(Skips November 25th for Thanksgiving Break)

Length of program: Approximately 30-40 minutes

Access to program: Programs take place on Google Meet

Cost: All of our programs are FREE, although donations are encouraged. The recommended amount is $3 per child. This is a suggestion - - any contribution your group can offer will make a difference.
