Fridays at the Wagner

This time allows for children to relax and explore the ecosystem of our yard through scavenger hunts and other activites in the Wagner's yard and garden.

Activities include:

  • Find and identify Philadelphia city birds who fly through our yard.
  • Observe bees and butterflies as they fly around the Institute’s pollinator garden.
  • Use a dichotomous key to identify all the types of trees that we have.
  • Make observations and draw pictures about what you have learned.

Time: Friday afternoons, 1:00-3:00pm

Length of visit: To safely accomodate as many people as possible, groups can spend up to 1 hour in the yard at a time

Amount of people: 20 children maximum or 30 people are allowed in the yard at the same time. Registration is Required for in person programs.

Chaperones: Please bring adult chaperones:

  • one for every five children under 8 years of age;
  • one for every ten children over 8 years of age.

Note: Counselors under 18 years old do not count as adult chaperones.
