Programs for Home Schooled Children

The Institute is pleased to offer science programs for children who are home schooled or in groups of fewer than 10 children.

  • Programs are FREE, but reservations are required.
  • Reservations operate on a rolling basis.
  • Please remember to make a reservation by the Monday before the week of the lesson.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.

All programs consist of an interactive, hands-on, skills-based lesson in our 19th century lecture hall, real natural history specimens to touch, and a scavenger hunt in the museum gallery.

Schedule of Lessons for Fall 2017

Friday, October 6th 10:00-11:30 am

Rocks & Minerals - Learn about how rocks form and some of the special properties of minerals.

Friday, November 3rd 10:00-11:30 am

Dinosaurs & Fossils - How realistic is Jurassic Park? Learn how fossils reveal clues about the Mesozoic era, when dinosaurs ruled the world.

Friday, December 1st 10:00-11:30 am
Mammals - Learn about the different types of mammals and their many adaptations.

 

 

Cost: Museum admission and programs are FREE, but donations are appreciated. A donation of $10 per adult and $5 per child is suggested, but any contribution will make a difference.
